It has come to our attention that misinformed comments about an incident at Woodfield Academy have gone on local social media tonight. The comments are about a Police helicopter being required as somebody with a knife was on the school grounds. This was NOT the case. Firstly, there was no individual on or near the school grounds with a knife. Secondly, the helicopter was not over the school, but several miles away. I would advise that when posting on social media factual accuracy is required especially when reporting on a serious breach of safe guarding. We would like to reiterate that these rumours are NOT true and by reporting it as so, can cause concern and distress to the community.

The fact we can report today is that we had a fantastic time with Year 8 pupils who used VR headsets to look at being safe and respectful citizens around knife crime. This is an important message required in the modern society and is part of our personal and social curriculum. We thank the Police for taking time to support us and protect our pupils in delivering this information.
