Posted on March 17th, 2017 It’s official: WOODFIELD IS STILL A GOOD SCHOOL!

I was delighted to be able to send a somewhat hurried mailshot to parents on Friday, as the official Ofsted report letter (after our inspection on Wednesday 8th February) pinged into my email inbox that afternoon. It has been difficult to keep the good news under wraps, but the waiting is over and we can finally share that ‘This school continues to be good.’

Some key findings from the report include:

  • A good quality of education has been maintained since the previous inspection in 2013
  • The academy promotes ambition and self-belief
  • We prioritise improving learning and pupils’ welfare
  • Pupils are polite and respectful
  • Our Governors are strong advocates of the academy
  • The quality of teaching assists pupils in making good progress
  • We have created a culture where safeguarding is a top priority for staff and pupils

The report states: ‘achievement is rising and staff are determined to help pupils fulfil their potential’ and I am very proud of our staff team that continues to give so much to this cause and we all know that it is not always easy!

I should make it clear that we ‘laid ourselves bare’ for this inspection. It took place after some challenging times for Woodfield, particularly in light of some changes within our structure, some new faces and new leadership and support teams in place. I am very grateful to all stakeholders’ support and contributions (whether they were good, bad or indifferent!), as these provided very honest and diverse information about our academy. I believe that when you read the report, which is very positive and supportive of our work, you will see that we are very aware of our direction and what still needs to be done to improve our academy, but more importantly, provide the best outcomes possible for your children.
