Welcome to Woodfield Academy.

The first middle years academy in the region.

You will see from our new prospectus that this is a very successful school and we are very proud of the achievements of our pupils and our staff. Visitors compliment us on the productive and welcoming atmosphere, the excellent relationships and the commitment to high standards.

Yet, as you come to know us, you will see that we are not content to “rest on our laurels” and we look forward and outwards. xxUniform Changes

Today at 08:30:13 am by Mr Schofield | Views: 26 | Comments: 0

Dear Parent/Carer

Re: Woodfield Uniform Update

You may recollect I recently wrote to you regarding the introduction of uniform changes.  As a reminder:

  • Burgundy school jumpers will be replaced by an optional plain black v-neck jumper.
  • Burgundy striped clip-on tie will be replaced by a newly designed, unique Woodfield clip-on tie.
  • Grey trousers/skirts will be replaced by black trousers/skirts.
  • Black Blazer with school logo will be compulsory.

Pupils may choose to convert to the new uniform any time from now onwards and many have already.  There is no requirement to change anything immediately. However, the new uniform will become compulsory from September 2013.
The newly designed tie will be on show on the website and in the entrance hall from early June.

In order to help launch our new uniform, Friends of Woodfield have offered to contribute funds to school to enable us to purchase a new tie f...

xxClass Catering Letter - Price Increase For School Dinners

02 April, 2013, 03:26:35 pm by Mr Schofield | Views: 139 | Comments: 0

Dear Parent/Guardian

School Lunch Prices from April 1st 2013

For over 14 years Class Catering has worked in partnership with schools to deliver a high standard of school lunch. I am sure parents and children have both seen a continuous improvement in the menu and many children enjoy a school lunch every day. This is very encouraging and we hope that even more children will join us and benefit from having a hot meal at school in the next term and for the future. We do believe they are a healthier and cheaper alternative to packed lunches. Class Catering are committed to continually improving the school lunch and continue to apply improvements whilst remaining in line with the government requirements for Nutritional and Nutrient Standards. These include:

• Dishes that are prepared fresh on site daily, including all sandwiches, baguettes and salad bars.
• Recipes that are created using lower fat, sugar and salt and increased fibre
• Cooking ...

xxLetter From The Headteacher - School Reception Area

21 February, 2013, 11:02:36 am by Mr Schofield | Views: 307 | Comments: 0

Dear parents/ carers.

During February and March we will be undertaking improvement work in the school reception area to provide a more “purpose-built” welcome space.

The building work is intended to update and improve the school reception as Woodfield becomes an increasingly busy and vibrant environment.

In line with this, we are currently recruiting a new full-time front-desk receptionist.

We are also updating the school telephones to give us a better, more reliable system which will help us direct your calls even more rapidly than we currently do.

Please bear with us during this period of transition: we hope everything will be fully completed before the end of March.

In the interim period, admin and reception staff will continue to be available in the front office and queries can be brought to them as usual. The existing telephone system will also be in place right up until change-over if you wish to telephone us.<...

In view of the bad weather forecast for tomorrow afternoon (Friday 25th January), we have decided to act early to avoid disruption.

We will be closing early, at 2.15pm (and not before).

Pupils will exit the school in the normal manner through the pupil gates on the KS2 playground. Please do not come to reception to collect your child.

Many thanks for your continued co-operation,

Mr. Beardmore
